Riders stay with a garage that remembers the bike. They leave a garage that asks "which oil did we use last time?" every visit. Service history is not paperwork. It is the reason a customer passes a cheaper board and still comes to you.
What is worth remembering
You do not need the customer's life story. For each vehicle, keep:
- Model and registration number
- Odometer at the last visit, and the next due km or date
- Oil grade and the parts you fitted
- The complaint in their words, and what you actually found
- Anything they refused, so you can ask again at the right km
A register can hold this until the page is lost or the person who wrote it is off. A customer record in GarageMate's CRM keeps it on the phone whoever is at the counter.
Use the history in the first sentence
At the counter: "Last time at 18,400 km we did 10W30 and you skipped the chain set. You are at 21,100 now. The chain should be checked today."
That sentence does more than a discount banner. The customer hears that you were paying attention. It also reopens the job they postponed, which is often the most honest upsell you have.
Share a little of the history with them
Send a short service note on WhatsApp after each visit: what was done, the km, and the next due. They forward it when a family member asks where to service the bike. The other garage cannot show that thread. You can.
Digital service history in GarageMate is built for this. The next reminder can name the actual bike and the last job, instead of a generic "your vehicle is due".
Start with the bikes that already come often
Do not try to type five years of old bills in one night. From today, every job card gets those five facts. In two months your regulars are covered, and those are the customers worth keeping. When a silent customer returns, you will know the bike instead of treating them like a stranger.
