A lot of garage arguments start with a sentence you cannot disprove: "This scratch was not there when I gave the bike." A paper job card cannot answer that. A photo taken before the mechanic touches the bike can.
GarageMate job cards can store service photos. Used properly, those photos do three jobs: they protect you, they help the customer say yes to the right work, and they make the garage feel more professional than the one that only gives a handwritten slip.
What to photograph, every time
- The number plate and the odometer, so the job is tied to the right vehicle.
- Any existing scratch, dent, or broken mirror before work starts.
- The worn part in place: chain slack, brake pad thickness, cracked tyre, dirty oil on the dipstick.
- The new part fitted, before the panel goes back on.
Four photos are enough. A 40-photo album slows the bay and nobody looks at it.
Send the proof with the estimate, not after the fight
When you ask for approval, send the photo and the price together. "Front brake pad is down to the metal. Pad plus labour ₹650. Shall I replace it?" is easier to approve than a phone call that only says the brakes are bad. The customer can show the photo to a family member who pays the bill. That is often the person who was saying no.
Use the same photos when the bike is delivered
At handover, send the before-and-after pair on WhatsApp along with the bill. The customer has proof of what they paid for. If a relative later asks "did they really change the chain?", the photo is already in the chat. Workshops that do this get fewer "you damaged my bike" calls, and more customers who come back because the work felt documented.
Make it a bay rule, not a busy-day exception
Photos get skipped when the workshop is full, which is exactly when mix-ups happen. Put it on the job card steps: receive bike, photo, assign mechanic, estimate, work, delivery photo. The mechanic should not open a panel until the "before" photo is on the card.
See how digital job cards keep those photos with the customer and the vehicle, so the next visit starts with history instead of an argument.
