How to Get More Google Reviews for Your Bike Garage

5 min read  |  September 2026

When someone searches "bike service near me", they rarely call the first name. They look at the rating, then the newest reviews, then how far you are. A workshop with 80 recent reviews beats a quieter workshop that may do better work. Reviews are a sales channel you can build without ads.

Ask when the customer is happy, not the next day

The best moment is the handover, after they have started the bike and it feels right. Say it in one sentence: "If the work was okay, a Google review helps other riders find us. I will send the link on WhatsApp." Then send it before they leave the lane, while you are still standing there.

Message: "Thank you for servicing your Activa with us today. If you have 30 seconds, this link opens our Google review page: [your review link]. A line about the job helps other bike owners in the area."

Make the link impossible to lose

  • Save the Google review link in the phone you use at the counter.
  • Print a small card with a QR code and keep it next to the card machine.
  • Add the same link to the bill WhatsApp, under the thank-you line.

Do not ask every customer to type your garage name into Google. Most people will not. A direct link is the whole tactic.

Reply to every review, including the bad ones

A reply shows the next reader that a person is behind the workshop. Thank specific praise ("glad the pickup was on time"). On a complaint, apologise, say what you will do, and invite them to call. Do not argue in public. Future customers are reading that reply to decide if you are safe to try.

Never buy reviews

Paid reviews get noticed. Riders can tell when five reviews arrive on the same afternoon and none of them mention a real job. Ask only customers whose bike you actually serviced, and only after the work is done. Ten honest reviews a month will do more for local search than a burst of fake ones.

Pair this with a complete Google profile and a booking link. GarageMate's Google listing and free booking website give riders a place to read about you and book without calling during a rush.
